## Article

ASML raised its 2026 outlook Wednesday after reporting €9.3 billion in second-quarter net sales and €2.9 billion in net income, giving chip investors a fresh read on how much AI demand is reaching the equipment layer.

The Dutch lithography supplier now expects 2026 net sales of €43 billion to €45 billion, up from the €36 billion to €40 billion range it set in April. The question for customers is no longer only demand. It is how quickly ASML can add enough EUV and DUV capacity for the next wave of advanced logic and memory fabs. Public-market readers can treat [ASML](/stock/ASML) as the entity page for later ownership context, separate from today's company guidance.

## What changed

ASML's [ASML Q2 2026 results release](https://www.asml.com/en/news/press-releases/2026/q2-2026-financial-results) said Q2 total net sales were €9.326 billion, gross margin was 54.0% and net income was €2.918 billion. The company said sales and margin were above its own guidance, helped by higher-than-expected installed-base management sales.

The forward guide moved harder than the quarter. ASML expects Q3 net sales of €11.0 billion to €12.0 billion and a gross margin of 55% to 57%. For all of 2026, it now expects €43 billion to €45 billion of net sales and a 54% to 56% gross margin.

That is ASML's second 2026 raise this year. In [ASML Q4 2025 financial results](https://www.asml.com/en/news/press-releases/2026/q4-2025-financial-results), the company expected €34 billion to €39 billion of 2026 net sales. In [ASML Q1 2026 financial results](https://www.asml.com/en/investors/financial-results/q1-2026), it lifted that range to €36 billion to €40 billion. Wednesday's range raises the midpoint by €6 billion from the April view.

## Why the capacity number matters

ASML said AI-related investment and progress in AI technologies are driving demand for advanced logic and memory chips. Its customers, in the company's words, are accelerating capacity expansion plans.

The concrete number is production capacity. ASML said it is planning to add 30% to its 2026 low-NA EUV capacity of about 65 systems for 2027, and is investigating another 30% increase for 2028. It gave the same 30% plan for DUV immersion capacity, starting from about 130 systems in 2026.

EUV means extreme ultraviolet lithography, the technology used for the smallest chip features. DUV means deep ultraviolet lithography, an older but still critical tool family. The split matters because AI demand does not buy one machine type. It pulls on the whole manufacturing stack.

## What remains unknown

The release does not say every planned tool will ship on the preferred customer schedule. It also does not say which customers receive the extra capacity, or how export controls could affect the mix. That boundary matters for anyone using [ASML](/stock/ASML) exposure as a proxy for the broader AI infrastructure buildout.

ASML flags those risks in its own forward-looking statement, including customer demand, supply-chain capacity, export restrictions and order timing. The next dated checkpoint is the investor call at 15:00 CEST on July 15, where management is scheduled to discuss the quarter and outlook.

For now, the event is narrow but important: ASML's official numbers show AI infrastructure demand moving from chipmakers' capital plans into a higher 2026 equipment revenue range.
